Key roles have included Rodolfo in La Bohème, Romèo in Romèo et Juliette, Duke in Rigoletto, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Alfredo in La Traviata, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Werther in Werther. Dr. H's private vocal students have been accepted into virtually every major vocal program and conservatory in the country, including: The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, Brigham Young University,Roosevelt Conservatory, Boston University, and many more. His students are currently performing in professional operas and choirs nation wide, and have won major vocal recognitions including district and regional winners of the Metropolitan Opera National council auditions, winners of the youngArts competition (two Gold medalists and one Presidential Scholar in the Arts finalist), several national finalists in the Classical Singer High School Vocal Competition (including one 1st Place and one 3rd Place over all), multiple chapeter, regional and national winners of NATS competitions, and several winners of the Michigan Verdi Opera Competition. Dr. Hurtado is a frequent adjudicator of vocal competitions, and is sought after master class instructor. He was awarded the prestigious National Association of Teachers of Singing internship in 2011.
As a stage director, Dr. Hurtado has directed The Mikado for Brigham Young University, Amahl and the Night Visitors for Utah Lyric Opera, and Gianni Schicchi, The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte, and various opera scene productions for Utah Lyric Opera Summer Workshops, and Interlochen Arts Academy.
Dr. Hurtado also serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at Utah Valley University. Previously, he taught Voice and voice and Opera studio at Westminster College, Opera Workshop and Voice at Interlochen Arts Academy and Summer Camps in Michigan. He also taught voice at Florida State University, and has had a successful private studio for many years.

Isaac Hurtado enjoys a varied career as a professional singer, voice teacher, and stage director. He has performed over 30 operatic roles and has appeared in numerous concerts across the country and in Italy. He is best known for his 'honey-toned' voice that 'caresses the ear,' 'money notes worth every penny,' and 'convincing' and 'heartfelt' acting portrayals.
