The Dramatic Voices program is composed of an elite group of singers possessing an abundance of sheer vocal power, foretelling a future in dramatic repertoire. The program concentrates on extensive private coaching and includes weekly voice lessons. The goal of the program is to provide a setting that allows exploration of dramatic repertoire that is typically not done in the school setting. Time demands in the program are a little more relaxed, which allows for concentrated personal practice and role study.

In lieu of performing in the main stage operas, Dramatic Voice Artists perform a staged scenes showcase featuring scenes from operas by composers such as Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss, and Weber. They also perform a Verdi to Wagner concert of arias, and participate in the Death By Aria Competition.

Dramatic Voice participants also perform in at least one master class with a world class guest artist. They receive more private coaching than any other group at UVAA.

Dramatic Voices Program cost:  $2,400

(some scholarships available)
Housing, transportation, and food costs for out of state participants are not included. Housing is typically arranged through assistance of UVAA and the cost usually ranges from $400-800 depending on the particular accommodations.
